Sodium Phosphate Dibasic is an inorganic compound which is most commonly used as softening agent for water & food. While preparing condensed milk, it is added to prevent coagulation and as anti-caking agent in powdered preparations. This compound is known to have chemical formula Na2HPO4 with molar mass of 141.96 g/mol in anhydrous form. Appears as white colored crystalline solid, it is soluble in water & insoluble in alcohol. Sodium Phosphate Dibasic also serves as saline laxative for treatment of constipation and for cleaning bowel before colonoscopy. It is odorless in nature and has melting point of about 250 degrees Celsius and density of 1.7 g/cm3.
